This month’s focus on business looks at Mark Handley’s
State Farm Agency. Mark’s association with State
Farm goes back to 1990 when he was hired as a Claim
Representative in League City, TX. After a few years
in claims and claims management, Mark moved to State
Farm’s Human Resources Department and started a
series of moves that took his growing family to Houston,
Austin, and lastly to State Farm’s Corporate Headquarters
in Bloomington, Illinois. Wanting to get off the “corporate
merry-go-round”, Mark returned to Texas with his
family in September of 2000 and started to build his
agency.
Mark has been married to Molly for 16
years and they have 4 children. Sarah is 12 and attends
Dripping Springs Middle School. She plays on the “93
Stars and swims on The Springs Aquatic Club. Scott is
8 and attends Dripping Springs Primary School. He is
active in DSYSA Football and Soccer and swims on The
Springs Aquatic Club. Sage is 5 and will start that
the Primary School next fall. She has played Soccer
for the last year and swam for The Springs Aquatic Club
last year as the youngest team member. Sloan just celebrated
her first birthday and is home with mom.
Since moving to Dripping Springs, Mark
has become very active in the community. He is currently
the treasurer for the Knights of Columbus, a DSYSA Soccer
Board Member, Boy’s Soccer Coach, Member of the
St. Martin De Porres Parish Council, and represented
the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce as a City Commissioner
for Founder’s Day. As Mark says “I can only
take as much as I give. This community has responded
very favorably to my business. I need to try to give
back whatever I can to thank those who have supported
my business.”
Mark has 2 fully licensed, full-time,
bilingual staff members who offer exceptional service
to his customers. In addition to regular office hours
of 8:00 – 5:30, Mark has a 24-hour “good neighbor”
service team that can assist customers no matter what
the time of the day. Since most claims are handled directly
out of Mark’s office, he has an outstanding relationship
with his customers. Mark feels that delivering upon
the promise made to a customer when they purchased a
policy is what separates State Farm from other insurers.
